Where You Find Your Self

‘Where You Find Your Self’ is a visual exploration of hidden Dorset, conducted over one year through various media, research, recording, and recollection by members of Dorset Visual Art’s Interrogating Projects Group.

Jon Woolcott – Real Dorset

As part of the exhibition ‘Where You Find Your Self,’ Dorset Visual Arts presents an illustrated talk by Jon Woolcott, author of Real Dorset. Jon will share some stories of hidden Dorset—the strange, the radical, and the lost. He will explore how these histories are woven into our sense of place and how writers and artists have found meaning in the landscape. 6-8pm.

Cinematheque presents Everlasting Moments (15)

Set in early 1900s Sweden, ‘Everlasting Moments’ is a moving story of Maria Larsson winning a camera in a lottery and her subsequent decision to keep it, changing her whole life. This true story follows her path to freedom and independence from an abusive husband.

Based on the extraordinary life of one of France’s most significant modern artists, Seraphine de Senlis. As a middle-aged housekeeper in rural 1920s France, Seraphine carries a secret and talented passion for painting, which she regards as religious inspiration.
