Hours: Part-time, flexible hours including occasional evenings/weekends

About The Sherborne
The Sherborne aspires to be a beacon for arts and culture in the South West, emerging as one of the newest cultural venues in the UK. This cultural philanthropy project was brought to life by the extraordinary vision and generous support of Michael and Sally Cannon. Opened in spring 2024, The Sherborne is a vibrant charity offering a rich tapestry of experiences—where people can explore, create, think, and connect with remarkable art, culture, and nature.
The Role
As part of our growing team, we are looking for two proactive and reliable Part-Time Maintenance & Events Support persons to assist with the general upkeep of Sherborne House and its grounds. This is a hands-on role that plays a key part in keeping our spaces safe, welcoming, and ready for public use and special events.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out regular checks and general maintenance tasks across the house and grounds (e.g., minor repairs, painting, gardening, and basic DIY).
- Support set-up and breakdown of events, including moving furniture, setting up equipment, and liaising with staff and suppliers.
- Monitor building condition and report any issues to external contractors when needed.
- Ensure public areas are clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
- Support health and safety checks, compliance, and safe working practices.
- Assist with deliveries, storage, and logistical tasks as required.
Ideal Candidate
- Practical, hands-on, and confident with basic maintenance tasks and tools.
- Friendly, dependable, and comfortable working around the public and creative teams.
- Flexible and willing to support a variety of needs, from fixing a door to helping set up an art installation.
- Previous experience in a maintenance, caretaker, or facilities support role is desirable.
- A keen eye for detail and pride in keeping a historic building and beautiful grounds in excellent condition.
- Interest in arts, heritage, or community venues is a plus.
