We’re delighted to announce the appointment of eight accomplished trustees for The Sherborne, selected to champion and oversee Michael Cannon’s vision for our wonderful building. The newly appointed Board of Trustees, led by the distinguished Sir Robert Fry, gathered for the first official board meeting last week to discuss making art accessible, keeping the history of the house alive, and capturing the imaginations of the local community.
We are so fortunate to have such a fantastic group of dynamic people who bring a wealth of wide experience, knowledge, and expertise with a passion for art and culture. Making The Sherborne an inspirational destination in the west country, bringing together and creating real change for the local area and beyond.
We are also thrilled to announce that Sir Robert Fry as the chairman of the board and wanted to share a little bit about Sir Robert with you:
Sir Robert Fry completed a full military career, including posts as the Commandant General Royal Marines and Deputy Commanding General of Coalition Forces in Iraq.
On completion of military service, he became a Vice President of Hewlett Packard and currently sits on the board of several companies in the communications and security sectors. He was a visiting professor at Reading University and retains a visiting chair at King’s College, London.
He has written for a variety of print and online publications including the Wall Street Journal and Prospect Magazine. He was a founder trustee of Help for Heroes and is a member of the advisory board of the Royal United Services Institute.
Sir Robert has made Sherborne his home and is very keen to play a part in developing the wonderful opportunity that The Sherborne represents as an arts and commercial hub in the community.
