It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Michael Cannon, Chair of The Cannon Foundation and Founder of The Sherborne House Trust.
Known to many for his entrepreneurial spirit and success, Michael leaves behind a remarkable legacy for which we will forever be grateful. To those who knew him personally, he was a dynamic, larger-than-life, kind man, with great vision and unrivalled passion for the projects he pioneered.
Always looking to nurture and inspire the people, places, and communities he crossed paths with, Michael was a true visionary and has been the driving force behind the renovation of Sherborne House and its transformation. We are incredibly sad that he will not be here to see his hard work and good will come together when The Sherborne opens but feel thankful that he has entrusted us to realise his dream of making art accessible to all, gifting a glorious heritage building back to the community for future engagement and enjoyment.
Having suffered a short illness, Michael peacefully passed away on 2nd June in the Weldmar Hospice. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Sally, his family, friends, and all who knew him – he will be truly missed by everyone.
