GENERAL

Maintenance Person

We seek a general maintenance person responsible for keeping the building in good working order through various tasks like repairs, maintenance, and upkeep of equipment and systems.  They will be required to perform various duties, including plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general facility repairs. General support tasks, including furniture building and removals, grounds and site clearance, and general cleaning and tidying of areas, will also be required as part of the role.

The Sherborne has a long and illustrious history as a convening point for thought leadership and a social hub for the visual arts, theatre, music, literature, and science. Since its inception in 1720, Sherborne House has built a reputation for nurturing trailblazing ideas and talent, inspired by the rich alumni of speakers – from Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens to Sir James Thornhill and William Macready – who have been associated with or presented at Sherborne House from the 18th century to the present day.

We are looking for talented individuals to lead classes, workshops, and hands-on experiences for our growing community and invite proposals for activities such as family days, youth and kids’ clubs (including under 5s), and adult courses that will form our cultural programme of events.

If you are an artist, craftsperson, creative professional, performing artist, creative practitioner, wellbeing facilitator, researcher, or scholar passionate about inspiring others, we’d love for you to share your ideas. We welcome all art forms; your practice can guide this. Whether you’re a painter, sculptor, photographer, or creator in any medium, we’d love to collaborate and share your expertise!

The Sherborne is a charity dedicated to creating creative opportunities for everyone. We aim to connect our community with the engagement in and enjoyment of the arts, to celebrate and preserve culture, and to champion creative opportunities.

How to apply: If you wish to propose an activity, event, or workshop, please share your idea, experience, fees, and availability with us.

Your Expression of Interest should include a brief CV or biography that shows your relevant experience and provides up to six examples of previous work. The format must be digital (please check access permissions if sending a link to a drive). Include a few sentences explaining your suitability and how you would approach the activity—no more than 150 words.
