Yo Thom, Bjork Harralsdottir and Victoria Jardine in conversation with Martin Dickson about how their cultural roots find a voice through their work.
Yo Thom is a Japanese potter whose current work is a unique synthesis of inspirations from Japanese folk indigo textiles and the beautiful surroundings of rural Dorset.
Björk Haraldsdóttir’s professional background in architecture informs strong geometric form in her ceramics and sculpture. Victoria Jardine’s hand-built, predominantly coiled ceramics sit firmly within Western tradition and as an exploration of the vessel form.
Themes explored: Architecture, cultural diaspora, metaphor, aesthetic and function.
