A Conversation with…

Charlie Macpherson, Amanda Notarianni, Sian Evans, and Jane Atkinson in conversation with Paul Newman about using traditional techniques to explore contemporary concepts.

Amanda Notarianni and Charlie Macpherson have been making award-winning contemporary glass together for 25 years. They are passionate about design excellence and exceptionally committed to creating unique works of art.

Sian Evans is a British artist, jeweller and designer. Sian uses recycled gold, silver and gemstones and making processes that include goldsmithing and lapidary (hardstone carving). Upcycling and incorporating precious metals and stones from family heirlooms into new works is a speciality.

Jane has pioneered the transformation of traditional lacemaking into a contemporary art form over nearly 50 years. Her focus for the past decade has been climate breakdown, tracking the fragility of her local wetland landscape in delicate pieces that capture the play of natural patterns and forces on land, in water and the air.

Themes explored: Archaeology, ancient objects, traditional methodologies, domestic objects and ecological concerns.
