Book your placeA Conversation with…
Simon Pirie, John Makepeace, and Petter Southall in conversation about the technique and aesthetics of extraordinary design.
Simon was originally trained as a sculptor and received a first degree in Fine Art, but he found his real niche when he enrolled at Hooke Park College, part of John Makepeace’s Parnham Trust. Petter Southall trained as a boatbuilder, learning various techniques, including wood bending, which informed his aesthetic.
John Makepeace compares his work to “that of the composer and conductor working with instrumentalists, the craftsmen he has worked with for many years.”
Themes include: Form, technique, aesthetics and diverse woodland ecology.
