The true story behind the murder of a British agent during the 1986 Troubles in Northern Ireland is revealed in Four Shots in the Night by Henry Hemming.
Sunday Times Bestseller Henry Hemming introduces his new book, Four Shots in the Night, a true story of espionage, murder, and justice in Northern Ireland, at7pm, Wednesday 24th July, hosted by Sherborne Literary Society
Hemming’s meticulous investigative journalism uncovers the gripping story behind the May 1986 murder of undercover British agent, Frank Hegarty, who infiltrated the IRA and worked closely with Martin McGuinness. The book delves into the network of secrets, lies and betrayals of both the IRA and British intelligence, and outlines the investigation undertaken by a detective who believed that Hegarty may well have been murdered by a fellow undercover British agent nicknamed ‘Stakeknife’, as part of the bigger plan to put an end to the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
In the style of a true crime thriller, Four Shots in the Night, is a compulsive read for those interested in the history of The Troubles. During the course of the evening’s talk, Hemming will encourage the audience to act as detective and decide who was behind the murder and why.
